Yves Malfliet is een conceptueel keramist en een provocateur; een grappenmaker en de tragische dichter die keramiek gebruikt om zijn verhalen tot leven te brengen. Zijn werk bestaat uit geconstitueerde decoratieve items, vaak massaal geproduceerde keramische kitsch en religieuze artefacten die opnieuw worden gecomponeerd door toevoeging van traditionele klei en glazuur. Dit resulteert in satirische keramische sculpturen a la Maurizio Cattelan die resoneren met de theatrale kracht van Guy Joosten’s opera’s.
Yves Malfliet is a conceptual ceramist and a provocateur; a joker and the tragic poet who uses ceramics to bring his stories to life. His work consists of constituted decorative items, often mass produced ceramic kitsch and religious artifacts that are re-composed by adding traditional clay and glaze. This results in satirical ceramic sculptures a la Maurizio Cattelan that resonate with the theatrical power of Guy Joosten's operas.
